We need to specify the requirements the localizer should comply with. Of course, we work the same way.
- During working hours, the manager responds to customer requests within two hours or less.
- All linguists are experienced game translators and native speakers of the target language.
- All participants take an active part in the process: ask clarifying questions, provide recommendations, report errors in the game or in the source texts.
- All the members participating in the localization process (managers, translators, testers) are well familiar with the specifics of the customer’s game genre and target markets.
- The translated materials are always reviewed by a second independent translator with a native mastery of the target language.
- A permanent team of managers and linguists is assembled for each project. The same team continues to work on the game updates.
- The customer can order a linguistic product test (LQA) and request for fixes to be made without additional charge.
- A backup manager familiar with the project and ready to continue the work is available should the main manager not be available due to sickness or time off.
- The team of translators makes sure to study the project: familiarization with the game and all available materials provided by the customer.
- The localizer corrects translation errors found by players or third-party testers in the shortest possible time.
- The localizer and the customer agree in advance on the levels of translation quality, control, and editing, when the following types of errors are identified: critical, important, unimportant. This gives a maximum amount of flexibility in managing project deadlines and tasks.
- The localizer monitors compliance with the terms of reference. All controversial issues are discussed with the customer before or during work, not after the fact.
- The localizer observes the project deadlines and alerts the customer in advance if said deadlines need to be adjusted.
- The project manager advises the customer on the particularities of product localization based on the market being targeted.
- The project manager always checks the quality of the final version of the completed task: tags, formatting, placeholders, spelling.
